Frequently Asked Questions

What is funding love’s mission?

Funding Love exists to create post-adoption experiences that strengthen bonds, build community, and restore people. We do this through all-expenses-paid vacations to Walt Disney World.

Why serve adoptive families?

Many Adoptive Families face significant financial stress related to the need for medical care, therapy, adoption debt and the list goes on. Additionally, families may face challenges bonding and have difficulty building trust and attachment, especially if the child is older or has experienced trauma.

The emotional and physical toll of parenting through adoption, especially when navigating trauma-informed care, can be overwhelming. Adoption introduces unique relational dynamics that can be emotionally taxing, including managing birth family relationships and navigating societal misunderstandings.

Adoptees may wrestle with questions of identity, belonging, where they fit into the world and may even grapple with feelings of abandonment of loss, even when placed in loving homes.

Why serve birth mothers?

Funding Love sees and acknowledges the stigmas that society places on women of unplanned pregnancies the moment the strip turns pink. We notice the way birth mothers are painted as heroes or villains in the adoption narrative, however they fit the story being told in the moment. Birth mothers are more than just women that have placed a child with an adoptive family; they are humans with inherent worth, given to them by God. They are not heroes. They are not villains. They are simply women - with stories of beauty, loss, trauma, and hope. They deserve community, healing, and love just as much as the child they placed. Women are worthy.

What is the adoption triad?

The Adoption Triad refers to the Adoptee, the Adoptive Family (the family with whom an adoptee has been placed) and the Birth Family (a family who has placed a child up for adoption).

Why Disney?

For families touched by adoption, the journey is often filled with complexities - emotional highs and lows, moments of joy and seasons of grief or uncertainty for everyone in the adoption triad. Not just the adoption process itself, but the ongoing work of nurturing connection, healing wounds and fostering a sense of belonging.

An all-expenses-paid trip to Disney may seem like a luxury or indulgence, but in reality, it’s a gift and opportunity for relief, renewal, and restoration. Funding Love vacations provide Adoptees, Adoptive Families and Birth Moms with: a needed escape from the weight of responsibility, space to reconnect and celebrate, relief from financial pressure and memories that endure.

Is Funding Love a christian organization?

While Funding Love is not a registered Christian nonprofit, it is a nonprofit that is run by Christians. Our hearts and love for Christ and His finished work on the cross inevitably spill over into all we do to love and serve the adoption community. His great love for us is what compels us to love others well, stand up for inherent human rights, and be a voice for the voiceless.

Do I have to be a christian to apply or get involved with funding love?

No. Our heart’s desire is to serve all members of the adoption community, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, or religious background. The same applies to our volunteers. If you have a heart for the adoption community, you have a seat at our table.

Additionally, our vacations do not center around or include any Christian faith programming (ie. times of worship, Bible studies, devotionals, etc).

When I give, wHat does my money go toward?

One hundred percent of the proceeds Funding Love takes in throughout any calendar year goes directly back into our programs so we can continue to serve Adoptees, Adoptive Families and Birth Moms.

Why does funding love do a separate trip just for Birth Moms?

Birth Moms often experience deep grief and a sense of loss after placing their child for adoption. They may feel isolated or sometimes forgotten, struggling to find spaces where their sacrifice is honored and recognized. Some Birth Moms also wrestle with guilt over their decision or how society perceives them.

At Funding Love, we understand the value in elevating and honoring all corners of the Adoption Triad - especially Birth Moms. Our dream is for every Birth Mom to feel worthy of love, respect and joy, and to know they have a voice that matters. Sending Birth Moms on a one-of-a-kind VIP vacation to Walt Disney World allows them to create bonds and build community with other strong women who understand them like no one else could.
